How you can save money on a new Air Conditioning System

Is it really possible to save money by purchasing your next Air Conditioner or HVAC system wholesale?  Yes, it is possible and I'll go over the pro's and con's for you.  First let me establish a few points that I believe to be factual, but are still merely my opinion. 

1)  Most all brands of HVAC systems are created equal - in other words, the tags have different names on them, but the parts and units are oftentimes literally the same.  If you buy an Amana, it's the exact same unit as a Goodman.  Carrier, Bryant and Payne are all different names, but are all made by the same manufacturer.  Everyone knows the name Trane, but American Standard is also made by Trane.  The equipment is virtually identical, with cost as the only difference.  This could be compared to the prescription drug market where you pay for the "name brand" and the generic is just as good at a lower cost.

2) The installation and service determine the longevity of an HVAC system.

3) Warranties and extended warranties are still available for wholesale or internet purchased HVAC equipment.  The trick is to have a licensed HVAC contractor perform the installation and startup.  With these things in mind, lets get back to the topic of saving money.

There are many companies that will sell today's home owner an air conditioner at wholesale prices.  The easiest way to do this is by looking on the internet.  Ebay even has HVAC Stores you can buy from.  You'll be hiring your A/C contractor as a project manager / installer / service technician.  Between you and your contractor you'll both determine the system needed.  The contractor will assist in the purchase (confirming equipment brand / model with seller).  You'll then arrange for delivery, either to your home or to your contractor.  Then it's just a matter of setting up an install time and getting the job done.  Once the HVAC system is installed, your contractor can assist you in filing for your energy rebate from your local utility company and don't forget the possible federal tax credit.  Let's close with the Pro's and Con's.

Maintenance Plans - Perceived Value vs. Real Value

Not all maintenance plans are created equal!  The big scam is that most a/c companies aren't selling you an actual maintenance plan.  It's secretly called "perceived value," that is what most a/c companies are selling.  See if any of this sounds familiar to you when it comes to your maintenance plan. 1) Priority Scheduling - all the big a/c companies run their techs to death during the busy season and rarely do they turn away a call. 2) Bonus Bucks - some companies offer cash back towards a new system for joining their plan.  What they don't tell you is that you never actually get those Bonus Bucks. They just mark up the equipment even higher to make up for any money that would be lost to those "Bonus Bucks".  3) Tune-ups - Have you ever noticed those tune-ups don't include anything other than a check?  Why pay someone to come out and just look at your equipment, if they even do that!  A real tune-up should include actual cleanings, filter maintenance, lubricating parts, etc.  I could go on and on, but I think you get the point.  I worked for more than one a/c company before I decided to go out on my own.  If you have a home or business in need of an a/c maintenance plan, get in touch with me and lets talk it over.  I have plans that deliver REAL value, not "perceived" value!
