Happy Thanksgiving!

Gobble, gobble, gobble! Trick or Treat is over and now we're on to Thanksgiving. When you go to the retail stores it looks as if we've skipped right over Thanksgiving and moved straight to Christmas. I love Christmas too, but taking time out to be thankful puts life into perspective.
Dana and I have so much to be thankful for this year. Number one on my list is Christ. Number two on my list is my wife and children. I would be lost without them. Especially Dana, I can barely make it out of the house without her. Isn't it crazy how wives and mothers seem to know where everything we need is? She always knows where my belt is and I can never find it! Anyway, she is more than that to me and my family, but you get the point. You, our customers are on my list too! Without all of you we wouldn't be so successful. Thank you for all your business and referrals!

What are you thankful for this year? I know many families are having to make some hard decisions because of the economy. Is your family one of them? A job loss or a move can be stressful. This may seem unusual, but Dana and I are always available if the pressures of life get to be too much. If you or a family member(s) are finding it hard to be thankful this Thanksgiving season, feel free to email or call us. We may not have the answer, but we are always willing to pray for you or your family.

Take Care and Happy Thanksgiving!

We offer online scheduling using BookFresh.

BookFresh works like an online appointment book and allows us "Service Plus" to meet your appointment needs on a real time basis.  Whenever you see a link to one of our appointment scheduling buttons, all you have to do is click and schedule.  BookFresh will automatically forward your appointment request to us and we can confirm that appointment from the office, mobile laptop or even from one of our Sprint PCS phones.

This is a great feature for someone that is busy and prefers to communicate on the fly via email or text messaging.

One of the coolest features BookFresh allows us to offer is the freedom for you, "The Customer," to view a picture and short bio of our technicians.  This can make the first meeting a lot more comfortable when you can see a picture of the person who is coming to your home and get a little personal info as well.

You can find our online scheduling links at the bottom of all our business emails, on Merchant Circle and via our website located at www.ServicePlusFla.biz.

Thanks to all our customers!

Even with all the "gloom and doom" going around these days, Service Plus, Air & Appliance is doing well. We've gotten some really great reviews and our customers have kept referring us to their friends and families. I would name them all by name, but you already know who you are. Thanks again for all the business you've given us and the business you've sent our way. We'll do our best to continue to provide a high level of customer satisfaction.
Thanks again!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Great job over the holidays - Dec 28, 2008
Great job over the holidays. Our LG washer broke on the 22nd while hosting friends and family for a visit. They were able to diagnose the problem and arrange for overnight delivery of the parts. Our washing machine was back on line the next day. Highly recommended

I have a rental in FL and called them and explained my situation. They were very helpful and once my issue was resolved, they called me and explained everything that was done in detail. They were very professional and efficient.

Dealing with Freon Leaks

Every summer there are always two things that create the most havoc. Freon leaks and water leaks. I thought I would take a few minutes to address the freon leak issue.

So, your a/c unit ices up or just blows warm air. Maybe you had an a/c technician fill your unit up last year and now it's time for another fill up? Well, the first thing I'd say is "your a/c unit has a freon or refrigerant leak."  Freon is refrigerant, so same thing really.  Most of my customers think it's normal to continue to add freon to the unit year after year.  It may be an accepted practice, but if your unit runs low on freon it most definitely has a leak.

What do you do when it's leaking?  The unit can continue to be charged / filled up as needed, but this does get more and more expensive as the years go by. Another alternative is to perform a leak search.  There are several methods employed in detecting and locating exactly where a freon leak is in your system. The good news is, it can almost always be fixed.  The bad news is, most freon leak repairs are expensive.  Another method we are now using, and with a high level of success, is to add a leak sealant.  This is a product used for small leaks only and actually stops the leak.  We use a product called HVACR Professional Sealant by ClipLight.  It is affordable and like I said, "it is working well in a number of systems."  The last option, or for a unit in very poor condition, is to go ahead and bite the bullet and replace the system.  We sell many different brands and work with Progress Energy and OUC to get you your utility rebates. We also provide ARI certificates to ensure you have the official documents for your Federal Tax Credit, if any apply.

In short, we look at all the options and discuss it with you, the customer, to see where your peace of mind is with regards to freon leaks.  We inform you and advise you, but never push or pressure you.  We want you to feel comfortable working with us!

Thanks again and God Bless from everyone at Service Plus.

Taking the stress out of buying a new air conditioner or heat pump.

Happy Easter everybody!  It's starting to get hot again and that's good for fun and business. Good for business if you're in the air conditioning industry.  Most certainly a number of my customers will be forced to make a decision between a repair or a replacement of a new a/c system this summer.  I have already had a few customers forced to make this decision.

So, what's all the anxiety about?  First, this can be alot of money and maybe more than some people have in today's economy.  Secondly, the a/c industry is in the middle of some major equipment changes due to the phase-out of R-22 refrigerant (Freon).  What can the average homeowner do to navigate through these issues?

1 - Don't rush into anything with a pushy a/c contractor.

2 - R-22 (Freon) is being phased-out, but not overnight.

3 - You can still purchase R-22 equipment (it will become more scarce in the near future).

4 - Repairs may be costly, but they can be less than a new system.

5 - You're not killing the environment if you don't go green this year (R410a / Puron).

6 - If you do decide to buy a new system, think about a brand like Goodman.
(Carrier/Trane/Lennox are great units, but you're paying for the name!)

7 - Stay away from the "Big Box Contractors".
(They have the big company sure, but they have the high overhead & high prices too!)

8 - Consider the SEER rating of your equipment.  Higher SEER means a lower utility bill.

9 - Ask your contractor about any Federal or Local rebates.

10 - Use Service Plus!

I hope these tips help a little if you're faced with making the tough decision between a new unit and a major repair this summer.  Service Plus, Air & Appliance is here for you either way.  Thanks for supporting us and we look forward to serving you this summer season.
